Easter holidays
Tuesday, April 1st, 2008Â From Miss GaskillÂ
I hope you are all enjoying the Easter break, I’m getting a bit fed up now and want to come back to school, I miss the children and the routines of the day!
I’m busy planning lots of lovely activities for next terms theme which is ‘The Olympics’ hopefully we will have a glorious Summer and the children can spend most of it outdoors.
We can have our own Olympic events, ‘Frizbee’ instead of discus,’ Cardboard tubes,’ instead of javelin, ‘bean bag’ throwing, instead of shotput, we can have mini hurdles, egg and spoon races, tennis, with bats and balloons, relay races around the field, can’t wait!
First thing we will do is create Olympic torches out of rolled up silver paper, and the children can create the flames with red, orange and yellow handprints, and we will make lots of doves to re inact the opening ceremony.
The Olympics theme will be a lovely opportunity to introduce the children to global friendship and many multi cultural activities, it will be a great opportunity for the children to see how other children live in different parts of the world.
I’m really looking forward to the physical development opportunities the Olympic theme can bring as well as the teamwork element and gaining an awareness of other cultures I think the children will enjoy our new theme.
If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding our theme that you think your child might enjoy please dont hesistate to tell us!
Enjoy the rest of the holidays, see you all soon.
